SPCA Pet Pics with Santa

Taking care of voiceless animals was what SPCA’s Pet Pics with Santa was all about. This event took place help fundraise money for the animals at The Brantford County SPCA. There were many different ways to fundraise for these wonderful animals. This took place that the Antler Service incorporated, from Saturday Nov 14, 2009 to Sunday Nov 15, 2009.

For the Christmas Caring Campaign they were selling handmade ornaments that were donated by Tamara Clark. Tamara loves animals and has always been very caring towards them. Also has another form of fundraising is the wooden stands holding bags with different animals pictures on them. These red stands are at any participating store. On the front of the bags is a picture of an animal and the wish list for the SPCA. One, who wishes to take place, takes a bag and fills it with contents from the wish list. Once the bag is full it is brought back to the store or the humane society. There is now a Christmas tree being put up at the shelter for all of the bags to go underneath. Doing this with your family is a great way to get everyone involved and teach your children moral values. This is a very helpful way to give back to the community.

There were plenty of volunteers at the event young and old. One girl Jenna Padfield has been volunteering with the SPCA for a couple years now. Her aunt used to be very involved in the SPCA and got Jenna to contribute her time as well. Her aunt can no longer participate in these events, so Jenna does this for her.

Giving back to the community is what SPCA is all about. Finding homes for the voiceless animals that without the help of the community would parish. “I have supported the SPCA for many years and I have a dog of my own, I am now on my fourth year. I think it is a good way to give back to my community and help.” Robert Batz. Robert and his wife had brought in their dog to get its picture taken with Santa.

The recession not only affects people, humane societies are not being able to find homes for the animals like previous years. Because of this they now have a bargain price for cats. These animals are all spade. They would love to have as many animals as possible in a home for the holidays. Every life is a precious one, we have to take control and help those who need it.
