Date Rape

Date rape is a very serious and scary subject. Half of the victims who are raped know their attacker. Date rape is when sex is forces upon a partner in a relationship. This is a sexual act preformed against the other persons will. Rape has nothing to do with love and should not be confused with it. The act can be of aggression and violence but also can merely be when one partner refuses it. When being in a relationship, one never should owe the other partner sex. There are "date rape" drugs like rohypnol ("roofies"), gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), and ketamine. The drugs can without difficulty be mixed in drinks to make a target black out and forget what had happened. This is not only affecting girls but it also can affect guys. Those who have been given these drugs have reported feeling paralyzed, having blurred vision, and lack of memory. If these drugs are being mixed with alcohol it can become a deadly mixture. A good way to prevent this situation is by not staying in secluded areas or spending time alone with people who do not make you feel comfortable or who make you feel uneasy. The best way to stay safe is by knowing what you want and by always being aware and in control of yourself. Check out this website to help you understand date rape more and help prevent this from ever happening to you or a loved one.
